Parent & Toddler Sessions
Mini ROAMers
On Monday and Thursday mornings (10am-11.30am) we run our wonderful parent toddler sessions.
The mornings are very relaxed and consist of lots of free play within the woods (mud kitchens, hammocks, bubble blowing, tree climbing etc…) an activity/craft, a story around the fire and a snack. Parents get a snack and hot drink too!
Sessions cost £10 for one child to attend with an adult. Due to limited space and where possible we ask that you try to keep to one adult per child attending.
Please note that the Monday and Thursday sessions in a given week will include the same story and activity so we do not recommend booking your child on to a Monday and Thursday session in the same week.
Our lower age reccommendation is 18 months. If you have a child just under 18 months who is capably mobile and you feel they would be able to join in with activities, then you are welcome to book them in and come along. Please message us if you are unsure.
If you are attending with a child over 18months but also have a younger child/baby who would struggle to acesss the activities then you are welcome to bring them along in a pram, sling etc... free of charge.
The following is an example session of what you might expect with the story “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” (story and activity different each week).
10am make way into woods.
Adults given a hot drink on arrival
Children free play (mud kitchens, swings, hammocks, soft toys, tree climbing, exploring etc…)
Children can at any point during the session take part in activity of making the Tiger some “tea” - using nature, herbs, mud and other materials to make the Tiger a delicous mud pie or smelly cocktail!
At roughly 10.45 the story will be read around the campfire followed by apple & cheese, a soft drink and cupcake (adults get a cake too).
Following story and snack, children can take part in the activity if they haven’t already done so or free play.
The leaders may play a game with the children (hide and seek is very popular!)
11.30 make way back to car park
The session is very relaxed and informal. There is no pressure to take part in activities or join in with story. If your child wants to dig a hole for 90 minutes - that’s absolutely fine!
*** We may need to cancel sessions if the weather is not safe. Decisions will be made at the earliest time possible (ideally the evening before but may be on the morning). Please check your emails for a message from us before attending sessions, particularly if there is a forecast of high winds or extreme heavy rain. You will be fully refunded in any such event ***
